DESCRIPTION

In global life today, the process of socio-economic development has brought many positive impacts on family and children.However, the flip side of this process is the increasing of social concerns and problems such as environment pollution, migration, unemployment, domestic violence, trafficking in women and children, and the widening inequality leading to significant effects on the development of children and family functions. Therefore, it is necessary to find out solutions to improve social assistance and child protection policies, extension of service models and development of social work profession (SW).This effort will contribute to limit the negative impacts as well as create a safe environment for children, family happiness and social welfare in Vietnam in particular and generally worldwide. This workshop is designed to bring together policy-makers, scholars, researchers, academia, practitioners from across Vietnam and other regions in the world for a common platform.

CONTENTS

Major themes include, but are not limited to:

  • Social problems that Vietnamese families and children are facing in relation tosocio-economic development.The following topics are related problems of the F&C in current context and future of Vietnam:
  • Major social issues/problems faced by (or among) vulnerable families those who are affected by  poverty, migration, disasters and climate change, economic crisis, etc.
  • Issues of family violence, conflict, divorce; families having members with disability, law violations, affected by HIV-AIDS, drug addiction, problems with mental health disorders and others.
  • Problems of children in need of special protection: the poor, orphans, children with disability, affected by HIV/AIDS, delingquency, drug addiction, abuse, violence, labor exploitation and others.
  • Common issues of children in the process of industrialization and modernization, urbanization and development of information technology: game addiction, tendency of virtual life, school violence, precocious puberty, obesity,..
  • The relationship between socio-economic development and the development of F&C.
  • Laws and policies related to families, social protection,  child care and protection:
  • Systems of legal regulations and the feasibility inimplementation relatedto F&C: the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence, Child Law, the Law on Human Trafficking Prevention,…
  • Shortcomings and necessary improvement on policies of F&C.
  • The effectiveness of national programs related to family development and child care and protection.
  • System and deployment of international law and experience in other countries about policies related to F&C.
  • Development of social work profession in working with families and children
  • Models of basic social services and initiatives in child care and support in family development related to economy, health, education, legal aid, social assistance and health mental.
  • Code ofEthics in service delivery for F&C.
  • Development and operation of the F&C support service systems which engage various agencies and organizations, such as SW centers, social protection centers, SW centers of children, shelters, open houses and religious institutions.
  • Assessment of current human resources in the field of SW with families and children and recommendations for improvement.
  • Resource mobilization in service delivery for F&C.
  • Professional training in social work/ working with families and children
  • Program, curriculum, content, methodologies of training related to SW/ working with F& C.
  • Optional specialization courses, internship and practicum of students.
  • Textbooks, reference books and others related to professional training related to F&C in general as well as SW with F&C.
  • Capacity building and suppervisionfor teaching staff in the field of working with F&C.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

  • Authors are kindly invited to submit unpublished, original work as full conference paper of at least 2,500 words including abstract and references.
  • Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page (including acknowledgements as well as funding and grant-awarding bodies); abstract; keywords; main text; references; appendices (as appropriate, APA style in favor).
  • Abstracts of approximately 200 words are required for all manuscripts submitted.
  • Each manuscript should include 5 to 6 keywords listed in an alphabetical order.

EDITORIAL PROCEDURES

All papers considered appropriate for publishing are subject to be reviewed by two reviewers. The Editor reserves the right to request the author(s) to make any necessary changes in their paper(s) or to reject the paper(s) submitted. Following the review(s), the suggestions on how to correct/adjust the full paper(s) will be sent to the author(s) for follow-up. Once the final version of a paper is accepted, author(s) should not make further changes to the text.
